On the road again

With a winter storm making its way up through the front range and another part of the storm heading to Kansas/Missouri, Megan and I decided to head out Wednesday night to get ahead of it.  All was going well, or as well as it could be with all the semi-trucks kicking up massive clouds of snow.  Visibility was at its best 50 yards with typically only 20 yards.  I-70 was covered in snow and the lanes were disappearing more and more frequently.  We were only 20 miles out from Limon, CO when the truck completely cut out and died.  Had a couple of people stop for us, and a state trooper let us sit in the back of his car until Sean and Ryan G. got there.  Hoping that is the first and last time to sit in the back of a state troopers car, as they are super cramped! 🙂  Sean and Ryan saved us for sure!  They got us jump started but that didn’t last long, so we had to be towed while being accompanied by the state trooper. Later the next morning we had a mechanic working on the truck expecting to get it done the next day.  Spending a day and a half in Limon is not very glorious. The people there are very nice, and remind you that Limon is not very great. They need a bit of a moral boost there. We made it to Columbia at 2 am Saturday morning. It turns out that being stuck in Limon was probably a very good thing since I-70 was so bad. So far spending time with family has been great, and we are greatly appreciative of the help from Sean and Ryan G.

We are in Columbia, MO at the moment. We will be back on the move on Wednesday, as there is quite a bit of snow out here today. I update the map as we move along, so by the end of the week we should be in southern MO.
